1 - M.O.F.'s view from the ground during the 2007 Sask. provincial election:
According to the lastest polls, the Saskatchewan Party has a commanding lead over the incumbent New Democrats, but you wouldn't know it driving around Regina. As of Monday night (two days before the election) NDP lawn signs outnumber Sask Party and Liberal lawn signs atleast 3-to-1, which in turn are outnumber atleast 10-1 by Roughrider car flags. M.O.F.'s guess-temated poll numbers for Regina:
NDP: 16%
SK Party: 5%
Liberals: 2%
Roughriders: 77%
Eric Tillman for Premier!
2 - And in case any of you are wondering why Tillman should be premier take a look at
this quote:
Desjardins also made some questionable trades, none more than the Jan. 31 deal
that sent receiver D.J. Flick and offensive lineman Wayne Smith to Saskatchewan
for quarterback Rocky Butler.
And they didn't even mention the Holmes+Getzlaf for Armstead
trade, or the Tad Kornegay for 'Mr. Reliable' Jason French
deal, all orchestrated by Tillman. Tillman basically cost Marcel Desjardin his job! Add in the Wes Cates for Rob Lazeo deal and Tillman looks brilliant.
3 - Adventures in University, with Man on Fire:
According to my Logic Prof the definition of a given term can be simultaneously too narrow and too broad. For the record, I'm paying almost $10k a year to attend the U of R.
4 - The Rumoured-to-be-heading-to-Toronto circus wasn't in town very long this summer. In fact, its precense was so underwhelming I forgot to hand out the awards last post. So with little fanfare, 1st place goes to Sportsnet, with the Toronto Sun coming in 2nd. On a more positive note, grudging respect is payed to the Toronto media for keeping themselves under control this summer.
5 - As I read stuff like
this all I can say is, why? Have you learned nothing from the
NHL? Better yet, do the genius' you make these decisions actually think Rider fans wouldn't stuff the ballot box?
6 - More CFL All-Star/Awards complaining:
(a) Congrats to Kerry Joseph on his nomination, but why? To be more specific, why not Joe Smith? He was the only player who had any consistency all season. Ray, Joseph, and Burris all struggled at times during the year. Smith didn't.
(b) James Johnson, an all-star? Why? Anyone who watched the Riders during their slumps this year saw Johnson get torched.
(c) How do you
miscount ballots? There's only, like, sixty of them!
7 -
Ugh. Atleast we got that out of the way early. Now, onward!
8 - From the 'Truth is Stranger than Fiction' file:
CLICK.
9 - CFL Play-off predictions:
Calgary take Saskatchewan
Winnipeg takes Montreal
Sorry Rider faithful, maybe next season.
